The Boat House Bay St. Louis

Host was unavailable on vacation with no one in office that could help. We rented for two nights. Sunday was calm except for generator running all night long. Monday morning Arrived to CHAOS across the street directly in front of rental. Road was being torn up for progress in BSL but the noises from heavy machinery like excavator, generators, pumps were nerve racking. Workmen arriving blasting their car radios at 6 am. Road was crowded with several trucks with trailers moving equipment in and out all day. My sisters and I could not sit outside on porch to relax with so much commotion going on. View was ruined, just picture a big blue PortaPotty under the beautiful old oak trees! Machines scared off all the pelicans we enjoyed last March and wanted to come stay while it was warmer and enjoy the pool. Pool area is hazardous with Poison Ivy and Poison Sumac growing two feet high about a foot away from chairs by pool and surrounding area has very sharp granite rocks for bare feet. Pool has uneven sharp bricks for coping around pool which drew blood. Outside garbage can was full. A big wharf rat climbed down from Kitchen area onto ground while we were in back yard. We needed a quiet peaceful time as two of us are caretakers for handicapped veterans. Peace was not available at this time!

We achieved our goal of being able to spend time with my son and our grandchildren who live in Pass Christian. My grandchildren enjoyed the pool. One of the steps leading to the pool is rotting. Many of the outdoor cushions were moldy. There were only translucent curtains on the windows and no shades. I have stayed in dozens of rental homes and hundreds of hotel rooms and never experienced that. A nearby neighbor was playing loud music all hours of the night and well into the morning. Whoever cleaned the refrigerator used bleach apparently and that bleach got on to my daughter-in-laws dress.

Loved everything about this place. Well equipped, clean and everything in working order. Pool is nice, shaded and refreshing after a hot day at the beach. Will definitely be back.

Boat House was exactly what we were looking for. The porches were the highlight of our stay. Only disappointment about this property was the backyard/pool area. Needs some attention and upkeep. But has sooo much potential. Love the location!!!!
